Chris Jordan backs Surrey to switch mindsets for Somerset Blast challenge

Surrey will look to switch mindsets and produce an improved performance in the Vitality Blast quarter-final against Somerset on Saturday, according to Chris Jordan.

The reigning champions are aiming to reach Finals Day for the fifth time in six years, having won the competition in 2016 and 2022.

Surrey will need to play with the same intensity and focus that saw them beat Hampshire in the previous round, according to Jordan.

The England international bowler said: "We have to change our mindset. We need to be more aggressive and take the game to Somerset, especially in the middle overs with the bat.

Jordan was one of Surrey's standout performers in their victory over Hampshire, taking 3-20 from his four overs.

He added: "We know we are a good team, but we need to show it in the big moments and put in a collective performance."

Surrey will be without the services of Jason Roy for the match, who is on international duty with England.

However, Jordan is confident that there are players in the squad who can step up and fill the void left by the explosive opener.

He said: "It's a big loss but we have a lot of guys who can come in and do a job.

"We've got a lot of power in our batting lineup, and we're confident we can produce the goods against Somerset."

Surrey will need to be wary of Somerset, who are the form team in the competition, having won their last five matches.

The Somerset bowling attack is led by Jack Leach and Josh Davey, while their batting lineup features Tom Banton and Will Smeed.

However, Jordan is confident that Surrey can overcome the challenge posed by the Taunton side.

He said: "Somerset are a dangerous team, but we believe we can beat them.

"We've got a lot of experience in our team, and we're confident we can rise to the occasion."

Surrey will be looking to reach Finals Day for the fifth time in six years, and Jordan is confident that they can do it.

He said: "We're confident we can go all the way and win the competition again.

"We have a lot of quality in our team, and we're all determined to make history."
