Bobby Finke Aims to Defend Olympic Gold Medals

American Swimmer Targets Paris 2024

Two-time Olympic champion Bobby Finke is determined to defend his distance freestyle gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The Florida-born swimmer won gold in the 800-meter and 1500-meter freestyle events at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, becoming the first American to sweep the distance freestyle titles since 1984. Finke's victory in the 1500-meter freestyle was particularly impressive as he came from behind in the final 100 meters to win by a margin of just 0.04 seconds.

Since his Olympic triumph, Finke has continued to dominate the distance freestyle events. He won the 800-meter and 1500-meter titles at the 2022 World Championships, becoming the first American man to win both events at the same World Championships since Michael Phelps in 2007.

Finke's success is the result of his tireless work ethic and his unwavering belief in himself. "I like to think I'm the same person," Finke said after his Olympic victory. "I just try to go out there and race my heart out and see what happens."
