Studio Pierrot to Bring Beelzebub to Life on Television

The popular action manga series Beelzebub is being adapted into an anime series by Studio Pierrot. The announcement was made in the latest issue of Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, and a trailer for the anime has been released online.

Beelzebub follows the story of Tatsumi Oga, a first-year student at Ishiyama High School, a school populated entirely by delinquents. One day, Oga finds a baby wrapped in a blanket on the street, and he soon discovers that the baby is the son of the Demon King. Oga is forced to raise the baby, and he soon finds himself in over his head as he tries to protect the baby from the forces of both the demons and the humans.

The Beelzebub anime series is scheduled to premiere in Japan in April 2011. No word yet on when the series will air in the United States, but it is expected to be released on DVD and Blu-ray later this year.
